Paint to the Beat
Paint to the Beat is a mindfulness app designed for children aged 5–8. It encourages kids to express emotions through painting while listening to instrumental, lyric-free music. Children can either paint digitally on an iPad within the app or use the app to access the music while painting physically on paper. The concept is centred around feeling the mood of the music and translating those emotions into colour and creative expression. I developed the overall concept, brand name, visual identity, and the accompanying branding and packaging designs.

Style Guide
I selected a typeface that feels playful and fun while still remaining clear and easy to read. Navy was chosen as the primary colour to convey confidence and calmness, complemented by bright, gender-neutral accent colours that create strong contrast against the darker base.
I also illustrated five different chameleon body designs and four head variations, allowing them to be mixed and matched to create a range of unique shapes and poses. The stripe details are fully adaptable and can be adjusted to any colour as needed.

Design Elements Combined
Design elements can be combined to visually represent the experience of painting while listening to music, capturing the rhythm, emotion and energy through colour, movement and form.

Paint Labels and Box Design
I designed three packaging concepts with supporting labels for each paint bottle. Each paint colour is linked to a specific emotion or feeling, reflected through the chameleon illustration, with its stripes matching the shade of the paint. The range is presented across three collections: Essential, Pastel and Bright colours. Scroll to see each collection.
Paint To The Beat Demonstration
Here is a demonstration of how the app can be used alongside physical painting, allowing children to listen to the music and express what they feel through traditional paint on paper.
